Born in Saigon, Vietnam, Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen (A.K.A. “Ky Duyen”) is the youngest daughter of former Air Marshal, Prime Minister and Vice-President of South Vietnam Nguyen Cao Ky, and his wife, Madame Dang Tuyet Mai. Following the fall of Saigon in 1975, at the age of nine, Ky Duyen fled the country with her family and sought asylum in the US as refugees. After initially settling in Virginia for a couple of years, the Nguyen family eventually moved to Orange County, California, where Ky Duyen attended Marina High School, and went on to California State Polytechnic University, Pomona for her Bachelor of Science degree.

Next came Western State College of Law where she was given a scholarship and graduated from law school with honors and passed the California Bar, considered one of the toughest in the nation, on her first try. Ky Duyen then opened her own law office in Little Saigon right in the heart of Orange County. To subsist during college and law school, Ky Duyen first worked as a waitress, law clerk, and photographer before being discovered as a natural and gifted VJ and host. Her early success eventually convinced her to leave her legal career altogether by focusing on her entertainment work. Since then, Ky Duyen has worked for the biggest Vietnamese American entertainment productions including the long-running and top entertainment Paris By Night series, beloved by millions of Vietnamese worldwide, where she has been the show’s co-host for the past three decades.

Ky Duyen’s many talents include singing, dancing, and acting. However, most noteworthy is her ability to navigate between American and Vietnamese cultures. She is fluent in English and Vietnamese (read and write) and semi-fluent in French. Apart from her hosting work with the Paris By Night series which has taken her to all corners of the world, Ky Duyen is a much sought after MC, model and spokesperson in her homeland, Vietnam where she has over 3 million followers on Facebook and other social media outlets. She has appeared in numerous commercials, TV and live shows. and is currently the face of some of Vietnam’s top brands as many are seeking her endorsement for a market of over 100 million Vietnamese in and outside of Vietnam, the 14th most populous in the world.
